- TENGIZCHEVROIL - EcoTech 2010 Participant GENERAL SPONSOR OF THE CONFERENCE ECOTECH 2010: «COOPERATION TO REDUCE EMISSIONS. Analysis. Questions. Best Technologies and Practices» Tengizchevroil is a Kazakhstan partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, gas and sulfur. We pride ourselves in conducting our operations in accordance with the world-class safety and environmental standards. The Tengiz field in Western Kazakhstan was discovered in 1979 and now is one of the world’s deepest producing super giant fields. In April 1993, Tengizchevroil LLP was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation. Current partners are: Chevron, 50 percent, KazMunaiGas, 20 percent; ExxonMobil, 25 percent and LukArco, 5 percent. Tengiz is located on the 2,500 square kilometer (1,600 square mile) project license area which includes the super giant Tengiz field, the smaller but sizable Korolev field and several exploratory prospects. The Tengiz and Korolev fields have potential for an estimated 750 million to 1.1 billion metric tons (6 billion to 9 billion barrels) of recoverable oil. The Tengiz field is one of the world’s deepest developed super giant oil fields, with the top of the reservoir at about 4,000 meters (13,000 feet). Tengiz reservoir is 19 kilometers (12 miles) wide by 21 kilometers (13 miles) long. The oil column measures an incredible one mile thick.
- KARACHAGANAK PETROLEUM OPERATING - While safety is a key focus area, we also aim to develop and market hydrocarbons from Karachaganak in an environmentally sound manner. Enhancing hydrocarbon utilisation, efficient use of water resources, the reduction of emissions and hazardous waste and eliminating spills and leaks are all key elements of Karachaganak’s environmental management programme. The reduction achieved in the volumes of gas to flare in the last four years testifies for the efforts made: approximately 69 million cubic metres (m3) of gas were flared in 2006, just over 40 million m3 in 2007, 33 million m3 in 2008 and only some 22 million m3 in 2009.

The process of plating wastes treatment is based on the anaerobes activity and provides simultaneous decontamination of water from heavy metals and sulphates. The refined water is to be recycled; the formed sludge consists of heavy metals compounds and can be used in reclamation industry. The industrial and storm sewage treatment process is based on a combination of mechanical and physicochemical methods: aggregation of fine dredge in thin-layer units, adhesion of oil products fines in coalescing units, ultraviolet disinfection and sorption. For the stabilized sewage treatment we offer intensified technologies with the use of aerobic and anaerobic biocenosis, planted on special bacterial bed which provides minimal waste sludge growth. The certified mass-production block-modular facilities can operate with the ambient temperature from – 40 °С to + 40 °С. The quality of the refined sewage allows wasting it into any fish-industrial pool. The formed sludge is optional to be processed into marketable compost or used in landscaping.
