Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to welcome all exhibitors and visitors of the 3rd Central Asian International Water and Water Technology Exhibition – WaterTech Central Asia 2011.
Lack of potable water in Kazakhstan results from its geographical location and necessitates its efficient use, introduction of new technologies, and collaboration with border countries. In his address to the nation, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev underlined, “Provision of the Kazakhstanis with high-quality potable water is critical for improving public health, and will therefore be our top priority.”
Based on the new objectives set by the President, Ak Bulak Programme was developed and approved for 2011-2020 to provide people with potable water.
Main items in the programme include: introduction of a systematic approach in construction of new water supply facilities and renovation of the existing ones; effective use of water supply systems; improving investment appeal of the water sector and deep involvement of private capital in funding of water supply facilities. Besides, the new programme also includes efficient use of underground water and improving the water supply system design. It also envisages establishment of a water sector monitoring system.
In this respect, I would like to underline the importance of the exhibition aimed to further international cooperation, exchange experiences, introduce the latest environment-friendly technologies in industrial output and municipal economy, reduce the level of pollution in rivers and water bodies, provide remote villages with potable water, and solve the problem with irrigation water in rural areas.
I am sure that WaterTech Central Asia 2011, together with AgroWorld 2011 Agricultural Exhibition, will enhance constructive and efficient cooperation between specialists in the area of water use and efficient use of water resources in rural areas, ensure better access to potable water, and become a venue to establish business contacts and sign long-term contracts and agreements.
May all exhibitors, guests and organisers of the exhibition enjoy a successful work, stay healthy and prosper!

I am happy to welcome exhibitors and guests of the 3rd Central Asian International Water and Water Technology Exhibition – WaterTech Central Asia 2011.
Almaty City Akimat pays proper attention to efficient use of water resources and provision of residents with high-quality potable water. Implementation of the comprehensive programme to reduce environment pollution in Almaty, the Rivers and Water Bodies of Almaty regional programme, and the programme for energy conservation and introduction of renewable energy sources goes as scheduled. The existing parks and public gardens are being rehabilitated, and new green belts are being laid out. Construction of new water supply facilities and renovation of the existing ones utilises a systematic approach.
In this respect, I would like to note the importance of the exhibition aimed to develop the nature protection complex, exchange experiences, introduce the latest environment-friendly, energy- and resource-efficient technologies in industrial production and municipal economy, and minimise the environmental pollution level in Almaty and all over Kazakhstan.
I am sure that this exhibition will further constructive and effective cooperation between specialists in the area of environment protection and efficient water use, enhance the environmental management system at Kazakhstan enterprises, and become a venue to establish business contacts and sign long-term contracts.
