Environmental Protection Minister, Italian ambassador discussed coop issues

Environmental Protection Minister of Kazakhstan Nurlan Iskakov has met with Bruno Antonio Pasquino, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan, the Ministry’s press service reports
Nurlan Iskakov informed the guest of the elaboration and confirmation of such strategic documents in Kazakhstan like a concept for Kazakhstan’s transition to the sustainable development for 2007-2024, Environmental Code. The Kazakh Minister pointed out an importance of ratification of the international conventions, in particular, The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and The Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade.

The Italian ambassador told about the dominant role of the Kazakh Environmental Protection Ministry in support of continent’s sustainable development and endorsed an initiative of Kazakhstan on conduction of the ministerial conference on environment and sustainable development of Asia-Pacific Region in 2010 in Astana.

The sides discussed issues on further development of bilateral cooperation and contribution to solution of ecologic problems.
