By President’s Decree as of Nov 14, 2006 a Concept on transition of the Republic to sustainable development for years 2007-2024 was adopted. New Ecology Code defining legal framework of the country’s transition to sustainable development is underway in Kazakhstan today. By Governmental Resolution sustainable development objectives were adopted.
The I International Forum is called to become one of the most important tools in linking up international efforts in the development process, particularly, in the context of setting up Common Eurasian process of transition to sustainable development.
The Forum participants will focus on the issues of implementation of sustainable land-use systems to stop land degradation and improve the population’s life quality; use non-traditional energy sources including water problems issues as a strategic resource and factor of sustainable development. An exposition of modern ecologically clean technologies and renewable energy sources, demonstration of goods and services on ecologically clean production, successful ecological projects is planned to be held. An excursion to the territory of sustainable land-use in Shetsky district of Karaganda oblast will be organized. The attendees of the Forum will also participate in presentation of the Eurasian Water Centre realized on Kazakh Leader’s initiation which is to become the largest regional scientific-production association in ecology and water quality sphere.
Ecology Ministers of Central Asian region, CIS states, Europe and Asia and reps of international organizations like Global Ecology Fund, World Bank, UN Development Program, Asian Development Bank, European Commission and business circles, scientific-research centers, NGOs and mass media will take part in the work of the conference.
