EcoTech 2007 Exhibition – Yet Another Step towards Creating Comfortable Human Environment

On 19-21 September 2007, Atakent Exhibition Centre in Almaty will be hosting the Exhibition of EcoTechnologies and EcoServices for Industry and Municipal Sectors – EcoTech 2007
The event is held by Iteca, an exhibition company of Kazakhstan, and its international partner, ITE Group Plc (UK), with official support from the Ministry of Environment Protection of Kazakhstan, Almaty City Akimat and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan. The General Sponsor is the JSC Exploration & Production KazMunaiGas. The official partners are the Kazakhstan Business Association for Sustainable Development (KBASD) and Republican Research Centre of Atmospheric Air Protection.

EcoTech exhibition is the main specialised exhibition in Kazakhstan and Central Asia that has been annually presenting the leading international and domestic companies dealing in the sphere of collection, management, recycling, and disposal of industrial and household wastes; water purification and waste water treatment; recycling; gas, air and soil treatment, purification, and reclamation; and labour protection and industrial safety.

This year, 37 companies from Azerbaijan, China, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, and Ukraine participate in the exhibition EcoTech 2007. The total display area amounts to 600 sq. metres. There will be represented more than 50 trade marks.

The business program of EcoTech 2007 exhibition will be very intensive. Directly on the territory of the exhibition, in the conference room there will be held the Conference and the Round Table. In addition, the companies - participants will conduct various presentations at their stands.

The Conference will be devoted to the topic “Environmental Safety and Technical Regulation – Integrity of Objectives and Requirements”. Organizers of the Conference were the Council of Foreign Investors under President of Kazakhstan, an exhibition company Iteca and sponsors – General Electric and ENRC. The importance of the conference is enhanced by official support from the Ministry Environment Protection of Kazakhstan and Ministry of Industry and Trade of Kazakhstan.

The Round Table “Environment and City” dated to the Day of Almaty City will be conducted by the Department for Natural Resources and Regulation of Environmental Management of Almaty. One of the key reports of the Round Table will be performance of the well-known Russian scientist – Deputy Director of the Federal Centre of Improvement and Environmental Safety of Urban Territories of the Academy of Municipal Services after K.D. Pamfilov (Russia), General Director of the OJSC “Improvement and Waste Management Centre”, Doctor of Science Nickolay Fedorovich Abramov, the Author of more than 70 scientific works on collection, transportation, deactivation and processing of solid domestic wastes and wastes eligible to them. Mr. Abramov will perform with a report “Modern Means of Solution of the Problems of Sanitary Purification of Urban Territories from solid domestic wastes”.

A general sponsor the JSC “E&P KazMunaiGas within the framework of the exhibition conducts three days seminar for the journalists “Environmental Aspects of Activity of Oil Producing Companies” with participation of leading international experts. The moderators of the seminar – are such international experts as Alexey Grigoryev, an employee of the Russian representation of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Resources (IUCN), Imogen Krauford, a chief engineer on environmental protection of the company Worley Parsons Kazakhstan LLP, Tan Svee Khong, a specialist-environmentalist of the company OSRL EARL (London-Singapore) and others. At the seminar there will be discussed such issues as conservation and sustainable use of local natural resources on the examples of activity of oil producing enterprises, environmental policy of the Foreign and Kazakhstan oil producing enterprises, a role of mass media in solution of environmental problems. European and Kazakhstan trainers will conduct an exclusive “master-class” on environmental journalism specially for the participants of the seminar.

The event’s efficiency assessment showed that 26% of exhibitors and 36% of visitors made contracts right in the course of the Exhibition. It is noteworthy that 73% of the exhibitors stated in the questionnaires that their stands were daily visited by up to 50 specialists, and 8% – by from 50 to 100 specialists. 78% of the total exhibitors proved happy with the quantity and quality of specialists to have visited the event.

EcoTech 2007 is held in concurrence with MiningWorld Central Asia 2007 (Mining Equipment, Extraction and Processing of Ores and Minerals) and Kazcomak 2007 (Quarrying, Construction of Industrial Facilities and Roads), which will undoubtedly step up the numbers and qualifications of EcoTech 2007 visitors!
